Cold and Flu Protocol




With cold and flu season in full swing, it’s crucial to have a robust protocol to keep your immune system strong and ready to fend off any unwelcome bugs. Whether you’re already feeling under the weather or looking to bolster your defences, my tried-and-true regimen can help you bounce back quickly and stay healthy. This protocol includes essential supplements, practical tips, and a nourishing chicken soup recipe that will provide comfort and support during your recovery. Let's dive into the details to ensure you have everything you need to stay well this season.



You Need the Following:


Vitamin D Dosage:


  • High Dose (4 Days): Take 1000 IU (International Units) per kilogram of your body weight daily for 4 days. For example, if you weigh 70 kg, take 70,000 IU daily. This typically means taking 7 capsules of 10,000 IU Vitamin D each day.

  • Maintenance Dose: After 4 days, reduce to one capsule of 10,000 IU daily until symptoms subside.

  • Brands: NOW, Orthoplex, and Eagle Clinical offer good options for 1000 IU right up to 10,000 IU dosages.

  • Administration: Take Vitamin D with a fat-containing meal, preferably dinner, as it is fat-soluble.



Liposomal Vitamin C:


  • Dosage: Take 1 teaspoon daily until symptoms subside.

  • Brands: Orthoplex, Designs for Health, and Bioceuticals offer excellent liposomal forms.

  • Maintenance Dose: Continue with 1/2 teaspoon daily for immune support, collagen stimulation, and skin health.



Zinc:


  • Dosage: Take 1 capsule twice daily—1 with breakfast and 1 with dinner. Aim for around 50 mg per capsule.

  • Maintenance Dose: Since 80% of the Australian population is deficient, once you're feeling better, drop back to a 32 mg capsule for daily dosing.

  • Brands: Bio-Practica and Interclinical are recommended brands.



All-Round Immune Boosting Supplement:


  • Ingredients: Look for a supplement with wormwood, as it works as an antiviral and anti-parasitic—fantastic for colds and flus!

  • Dosage: Generally, no more than 1-2 capsules twice daily.

  • Brands: Artemisia Plus by Interclinical Laboratories is a great option. Alternatively, a blend of andrographis, elderberry, and echinacea works well. Armaforce by Bioceuticals, Metagenics, and Medi Herb are also fabulous blends for all round immune support.



Other Hot Tips:


  • Chicken Soup: For healing and anti-inflammatory purposes, add bone broth for added benefits.

  • Diffuser: Diffuse 2-4 drops of the following essential oils to open airways: peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree, and lemon.

  • Eucalyptus Steam: Use 2-4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil in the shower for a natural steam inhalation.

  • Gargling: Gargle with Celtic salt in warm water at least twice daily.

  • Heaters: Avoid sitting directly under heaters or in front of them, as this can exacerbate symptoms.

  • Hydration: Drink at least 2L of filtered, remineralized water daily to help flush out toxins.

  • Natural Antibiotic: Crushed garlic and honey work as a natural antibiotic (2 cloves to 1 tablespoon of honey).

  • Rest: Ensure you get plenty of rest (at least 8 hours of sleep).

  • Sinus Congestion: Saline rinse is great for clearing congestion of the sinuses.

  • Sunlight: Get 20-30 minutes of sunlight exposure daily.
